All is set for the ninth edition of the Africa Public Service Day (APSD) commemorations, which will be held here from Wednesday.

The three-day event will be officially opened by Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Professor Paul Mavima on Thursday.

This year’s commemorations, which are running under the theme “The African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) will require a fit-for-purpose African public administration to succeed”, will be attended by delegates from across the continent.

Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare communications and advocacy officer Ms Respect Chofamba said preparations for the event were advanced.

“The organising committee came here earlier and has been working flat out to put everything in place to welcome our visitors,” she said.

“The APSD primarily seeks to recognise the value contribution of the public service in Africa and progressively develop and sustain prosperity of the African people.”

Participants for the commemorations will include public service ministries and workers’ representatives from the whole continent.
