NEW: $39 million to ascertain Harare property values

Online Reporter

Harare City Council will allocate over $39 million from devolution funds to the General Valuation Roll (GVR) to ascertain the market value of properties.

The council last carried out a GVR assessment over 10 years ago, resulting in loss of potential revenue due to limited collection of dues from commercial properties.

In a statement, the Harare City Council said it had appointed GMP Real Estate and Global World Properties to undertake the exercise.

“City of Harare has appointed GMP Real Estate and Global World Properties to undertake the general valuation roll services of all properties in the city in terms of the Urban Councils Act.

“Valuation officers and their assistants from the GMP Real Estate and Global World Properties shall require access to enter and inspect every property between 8am and 4pm any day except Sunday or public holidays.”
