A 51-year-old Uzumba man is in trouble with the law for bedding a 13-year-old girl.
Mathias Muchena from Karimbika Village in Chief Nyajina’s area of Uzumba recently appeared before Mutawatawa magistrate, Mr Edwin Marecha, facing allegations of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
He was remanded in custody to September 5 for trial.
Appearing for the State, prosecutor, Mr Steven Malota said:
“The accused person is the complainant’s boyfriend. On July 27 2022 at around 1pm, Muchena invited the complainant to his residence.
“The accused person then asked the complainant to have sexual intercourse with him and she agreed.
“Accused person took the complainant to his bedroom where he had consensual sexual intercourse once with her in his bedroom.”
Mr Malota further stated that on July 28, at around 10am, Muchena invited the minor to a mountain near her homestead and asked her if she wanted to have sexual intercourse with him and she agreed.
The matter came to light after the complainant informed her sister, who in turn told the complainant’s aunt.
The matter was reported to Mutawatawa Police Station.
