ABOUT seven Anglican Diocese of Manicalandb congregants who were coming from a church function at Bernard Mzeki in Marondera are feared to have perished in a horrific accident near Gandanzara in Makoni District after a bus they were travelling in caught fire.

The bus, which belongs to Passion Link, caught fire last night near Gandanzara Business Centre, about 44 kilometres from Rusape.

Although the police could not immediately give an official comment, traffic cops from Rusape who attended the scene said about seven people were unaccounted for, having been burnt beyond recognition after the bus caught fire.

Some of the passengers managed to escape from the raging flames that reduced the bus to a shell.

About 10 people were injured, three of them seriously, and were rushed to Rusape General Hospital for treatment.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Honourable Felix Mhona and Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza visited the accident scene. – Manica Post
