An international humanitarian organisation, Tzu Chi Charity Foundation, is supporting the Presidential Borehole Programme in Mbire by rehabilitating all the boreholes in the district.

This partnership aims to restore boreholes that have been broken down for years.

So far, 60 boreholes in 10 wards have been successfully rehabilitated, leaving only 39 boreholes outstanding.

The Tzu Chi Foundation is dedicated to providing clean water, education, health services and food aid.

Senator for Mbire Mr Eleven Kambizi said only seven wards remain to be addressed.

“We aim to create nutritional gardens at each borehole to effectively utilise water and promote sustainable livelihoods for the communities,” he said.

“The Tzu Chi Foundation is also complementing Government efforts in drought relief by providing mealie-meal, soya chunks and cooking oil to the people of Mbire.”

Senator Kambizi said the nutritional gardens will help eliminate reliance on handouts or donations, aligning with President Mnangagwa’s vision of promoting food security at the household level.
