The 60th edition of the annual Chibuku Neshamwari national finals will take place at Harare Gardens on Saturday.
The festival will be held under the theme “Bira Remadhanzi, 60 Years Sithokozisa Ngezomgido!”
The competition’s provincial finals were completed in Chitungwiza last week, with Yarira Ngoma securing the rights to represent Harare Metropolitan province.
Ten groups from different provinces will participate in the finals.
The event is sponsored and organised by Delta Beverages, in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Traditional Dance Association.
“This festival has become important in promoting and ensuring that traditional dances, which are some of our crucial intangible cultural heritages, are celebrated,” the organisers told The Sunday Mail Online.
Winners of the national finals are set to pocket US$15 000, with the second- and third-placed groups walking away with US$10 000 and US$7 500, respectively.
Some of the country’s top artistes, among them Jah Prayzah, Nutty O and Selmor Mtukudzi, will perform on the day.
Manicaland’s Dapurahunanzva Dance Troupe won last year’s Chibuku Neshamwari competition.
