A BEAUTY pageant with the noble cause of raising awareness against breast cancer is scheduled for Golden Peacock Villa Hotel this Saturday.

Dubbed the Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe Beauty Pageant, the event will feature 30 participants from different regions of the country who will showcase their modelling talents and personalities.

In an interview, the organisers, Zimbabwe Youth and Cultural Identity Enhancement Trust (ZYCIET) said they hope the pageant will inspire and empower women, as well as educate the public about the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

ZYCIET president, Simbarashe Gwawawa said the event is an annual pageant that seeks to promote the breast cancer awareness drive through modelling, pageantry, arts and culture.

“We want to celebrate the courage and resilience of women who have fought this disease and inspire others to join the cause. The pageant is not about physical beauty, but about inner beauty and strength. We hope this event will raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and prevention,” he said.

He said proceeds from the pageant will be channelled towards breast cancer patients in hospitals in Manicaland as well as go towards vulnerable community members across the country.

“We are committed to giving back to the society and supporting the well-being of our less fortunate citizens. That is why we have decided to allocate a portion of our earnings to provide essential hygiene products for those in need. Specifically, we will distribute sanitary pads and maternity pads to women and girls who face challenges in accessing them,” he said.

The event will be held from 5pm to 11pm on Saturday. Tickets are being sold at all Eat and Lick restaurants, Manica Barrels, Golden Peacock Hotel and at ZYCIET offices in Greenside.

A standard ticket for an individual is going for US$45, while individual tickets for VIP and VVIP are going for US$90 and US$115 respectively.

A standard ticket for a table for 10 is going for US$350, while a VIP and VVIP table for 10 ticket is being sold at US$550 and US$770 respectively.
