ZVIMBA East residents, will on December 4, join the rest of the country in commemorating the National Tree Planting Day.

The day is commemorated every year on the first Saturday of December.

National Tree Planting Day was set aside to encourage Zimbabweans to plant and conserve trees.

As part of the commemorations, Zvimba East residents will gather at Umuzururu Primary School, where they are going to plant trees.

“Trees are life. I am therefore calling upon Zvimba residents in particular, and all Zimbabweans in general to observe this important day. In my ward, we have witnessed massive deforestation and there is need for us to replace the trees,” said Mr Ruzai Muchaurawa, the Zvimba Rural District Councillor for Ward 25.

The Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, will grace the event as the Guest of Honour.
