A HARARE man appeared in court yesterday on allegations of unlawfully cultivating dagga at his house in Alexandra Park.

Harare magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko did not ask him to plead and remanded him in custody.

Allegations are that sometime in mid-March, a detective from CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare received information from reliable sources that Trevor Antony (39) was cultivating marijuana at his place of residence.

On March 29, police – acting on the information received – conducted searches at the premises and found the dagga plant, leading to Antony’s arrest.

The plant was seized and taken to CID drugs where it was measured.

It is approximately two meters in height and was produced in court as evidence.
