THE Warriors are likely to play a local Premier Soccer League (PSL) team after their proposed international friendly against Botswana fell through.
Botswana Football Association on Tuesday said it was not aware of any friendly match against Zimbabwe.
The Normalisation Committee had, however, advised the public of a sparring match between the neighbouring countries at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Warriors will now play a PSL team, most likely Herentals or Yadah, according to sources.
National team coach Brito is expected to call in players for camp on Wednesday, with training expected to start Thursday.
There are slim chances that foreign-based players will be involved.
“All this should be directed to the NC (Normalisation Committee); they are working on it,” Brito told The Sunday Mail Online on Wednesday morning.
It looks like Brito will turn to local-based players, most of whom he used when Zimbabwe played Botswana in an invitational match in Gaborone a fortnight ago.
The likes of Obriel Chirinda and Mthokozisi Msebe (Bulawayo Chiefs), Tanaka Shandirwa and Donald Mudadi (Dynamos), Fortune Binzi (Manica Diamonds), Qadr Amini and Nelson Chadya (Ngezi Platinum Stars), Brian Banda and Walter Musona (FC Platinum), as well as Tino Benza (Herentals) are some of the players expected to troop into camp.
There are also indications DeMbare’s right-back Emmanuel Jalai, Simba Chinani (Simba Bhora) and Juan Mutudza of FC Platinum might also get a call-up.
