FORMER senior netball national team goal shooter and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Mambas player Pauline Jani has died.

She was 33.

Jani — who was also a member of the ZRP, where she served as a constable — succumbed to a long illness at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

ZRP Mambas head coach Talent Museka confirmed the death.

“It is sad that we have lost Pauline. This is a loss not only to us as ZRP Mambas but the entire netball fraternity,” he said.

Having retired from international netball in 2019 after the World Netball Cup in Liverpool, the towering shooter remained active in local netball, where she went on to bag several awards.

In 2021, when netball returned to action following a Covid-19- induced break, she bagged the golden hand accolade for the RANL Dry Season Tournament.

She was also the toast of the 2021 and 2022 netball seasons, taking home the Rainbow Netball Amateur League golden hand medals.
