NEW: Boy (10) drowns in pool

A SWIMMING expedition for three 10-year-old boys ended tragically after one of them drowned in a pool in Chipinge.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident that happened in Tamburika Village in Chief Musikavanhu’s area.

“Freedom Marufu (10) was herding cattle in the company of two of his friends when they decided to swim. The three started drowning and screamed for help.

 

“A 14-year-old juvenile who was seated under a tree rushed to the scene and managed to rescue two of them. Freedom could not be saved,” said Asst Insp Chinyoka.

His body was later retrieved and no foul play is suspected.
