NEW: Buhera accident death toll rises

THE death toll in the road traffic accident that occurred in Buhera yesterday evening has risen to six after three more people succumbed to injuries they sustained in the fatal crash.

 

Three people were confirmed dead on the spot, while 18 others were injured when an Isuzu lorry with 40 passengers on board collided head-on with a Nissan Diesel UD truck carrying one passenger along the Murambinda-Betera Road near Mugombe Primary School in Buhera District.

 

In a statement this afternoon, police confirmed that the death toll had risen to six.

 

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Murambinda Mission Hospital mortuary for post mortem, while the injured are admitted at the same hospital,” reads part of the statement.

 

Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
