LOCAL boxing icon Charles Manyuchi and popular pugilists Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chiwandire, Tinashe “Chairman” Madziwane and Peter Pambeni headline a star-studded line-up that is expected to feature at a boxing tournament set for Bulawayo on October 29.

Eight international bouts and a local title fight are some of the other major highlights of the event.

Manyuchi, who has begun his farewell fights, will take his show to Bulawayo.

The 33-year-old former World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver welterweight champion announced his retirement in March.

He, however, revealed that he would fight three bouts in three different locations before officially hanging up his gloves.

The first of the trilogy happened in Chivhu in July when he defeated Limbani Lano of Malawi.

Chiwandire – a former WBC Interim Super bantamweight champion – is desperate for a comeback after losing to Yamileth Mercado in a WBC gold title fight in Mexico in March.

She will take on Sasha Mambo in a non-title fight.

The bout card is yet to be finalised, but promoter Clyde Musonda of Deltaforce Academy has since confirmed the fight night.

“My team has decided to take boxing to Bulawayo …

“So, this Friday, we are visiting Bulawayo to start preparing for the tournament,” Musonda said.

“On the night of October 19, we are going to have eight international bouts.

“We will also have Manyuchi, newly crowned World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa champion Madziwane and Kuda (Chiwandire) taking part.

“It’s going to be an exciting night of boxing,” he added.
