BUSTLING Bulawayo Chiefs striker Obriel Chirinda has rediscovered his imperious form at a time he was about to be offloaded from the side.
The striker could be a thorn in the flesh for Herentals when the two sides clash on Saturday.
There are reports that former Bulawayo Chiefs coach Lizwe Sweswe wanted to get rid of Chirinda, with Highlanders a possible destination.
But the move could not materialise as Sweswe left for Sheasham early this month.
Bulawayo Chiefs have since roped in the highly qualified Joseph Sibindi.
The Ninjas are now firing, with Chirinda their chief marksman.
The striker scored a hat-trick when Bulawayo Chiefs thumped Triangle at Gibbo Stadium last weekend to move to sixth position on the log.
The former Chicken Inn star will lead the frontline when the Ninjas host Herentals at Luveve on Saturday, in a repeat of last year’s Chibuku Super Cup final, which Bulawayo Chiefs won 1-0.
And the two sides meet again in Bulawayo, with the hosts in a better place.
Chiefs have won two consecutive league games since Sibindi took over from Sweswe.
They have 23 points and are five clear of Herentals, who sit on 10th position after 15 rounds of action.
Herentals are fresh from a 0-1 defeat to log leaders Highlanders at Mandava Stadium last Saturday.
“We need to have a game plan that uses the strengths of these boys,” said Sibindi, who has a doctorate in sports science, after last weekend’s 3-0 win at Triangle.
“It’s all about paying attention to the structural organisation of the game.
