Online Reporter

HUNDREDS of Caledonia residents on Friday observed the National Clean-Up Day by removing waste and sprucing up Gazebo Shopping Centre.

Caledonia is a sprawling informal settlement which is located about 17 kilometres east of Harare.

The clean-up was organised by the Caledonia Residents Association Trust (CRAT).

Andrew Madzivadondo, the CRAT spokesperson, said there is need for communities to maintain clean environs.

“We are simply responding to the President’s call for us to clean-up our environs. With Covid-19 among us, maintaining a clean environment is of outmost importance,” he said.

Today’s clean-up was the 8th National Clean-up Day for this year.

President Mnangagwa declared that the first Friday of each month is a National Clean-up Day in which all citizens are obliged to clean-up their immediate environment.
