SOUTH African First Division football side Black Leopards are contemplating taking legal action against the newly appointed Caps United head coach Mark Harrison.
The British national, described by the South African media as a journeyman because of his club hopping tendencies, was contracted to Lidhodha Dhuvha outfit until the end of the season.
Harrison resigned on Tuesday and immediately signed a three-year contract with Makepekepe.
“Mark Harrison has today tendered his resignation as Black Leopards FC coach with immediate effect. The club is considering its legal options as Harrison was contracted to Leopards until the end of the season. Black Leopards FC will not be issuing any further statements on the matter,” the club said on its official website.
Contacted on the issue, Caps United spokesperson Joyce Kapota said her club would also not be issuing any comment on the matter.
The Briton might face the same fate as Warriors’ short-lived coach, Belgian Tom Saintfiet, who was deported for a breach of immigration laws if it is true that he breached his work permit conditions in South Africa.
Kapota said the club was busy working on the coach’s work permit and they have been to the immigration and Zifa offices.
“We’re almost done with his paperwork,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Green Machine, facing a massive player exodus, began their trial runs on Monday in the Eastern border town of Mutare before moving to Kadoma, Kwekwe and Gweru yesterday.
“We’re in Bulawayo tomorrow (today) at 9AM. It’s part of our recruitment drive and so far it’s been a success as the turnout is quite impressive,” said Kapota.
Their developmental coach Ray Mundembe is conducting the trials.
