NEW: Cattle thief caught literally red-handed

FARMERS in Marondera apprehended a 40-year-old man who was caught slaughtering one of the cattle that he had allegedly stolen from Cloverhill Farm.

The incident took place on Sunday.

Elson Chimupengo was caught red-handed by farmers while slaughtering an ox.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Marondera have arrested Elson Chimupengo (40) in connection with a case of stock theft, which occurred on June 4, 2023 at Cloverhill Farm, in which three oxen were stolen from two farmers.

“The suspect was apprehended by farmers while slaughtering one of the stolen oxen,” said Asst Comm Nyathi in a statement.
