VETERAN hip-hop chanter, Charlene Robertson, has bounced back into the music industry with a new album titled “Rhythm’’.
The 10-track album ends a 16-years hiatus for the artiste, during which she pursued a career as a business consultant.
Charlene made her debut in the music industry in 1988 with a song titled “Lover Smiles”, and since then she has worked with many music legends, the likes of the late James Chimombe and Biggie Tembo.
The gifted hip-hop singer last appeared in the music industry in 2005 with her album titled “Multi-otherwise”, which dominated the airwaves at the time.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Charlene said she believes that her new offering, “Rhythm” will be a hit.
“I’m very optimistic that our new offering can do very well, since I have started singing, I have never failed and many of my songs were hit songs,” she said.
“Rhythm” sees Charlene bounce back with energy and her inimitable style.
The track “Come on people”, which is the first song of the album, captures the high spirits Charlene brought to the project, and she tips it as a possible hit song.
The song is irresistible to dance to, showcasing Charlene’s sensual vocals to best advantage.
Many other tracks on “Rhythm” are equally ear-grabbing.
Other than charming her fans, Charlene also added music that educates and motivates audiences.
The track “One Love”, which is the third track of the album is one such song.
“On ‘One Love’ I have tried to preach love, to encourage and to motivate the public on not giving up too early when doing things in life,” she said.
Charlene is based in the United Kingdom, but Zimbabwean vibes are remaining at the core of her heart.
She regularly visits Zimbabwe.
“I’m now based in the UK, but Zimbabwe remains in the core of my heart, I always come here and give my lectures to the students at the Zimbabwe College of Music,” she said.
She is also planning to perform live shows in the country.
