NEW: Chawaguta bounces back as Chevrons coach

Former Chevrons coach, Walter Chawaguta has been appointed the interim coach for the Chevrons following the resignation of Dave Houghton on Tuesday.

Chawaguta will be in-charge of Zimbabwe senior men’s white ball tour of Sri –Lanka early next year.

Chawaguta who was currently the batting coach for the Lady Chevrons will lead an unchanged technical department of Stuart Matsikenyeri (Assistant Coach/Batting Coach), Steve Kirby (Bowling Coach), Erick Chauluka (Fielding Coach), Walter Karimanzira (Fitness and Conditioning Trainer), Amato Machikicho (Physiotherapist), Alistair Chambe (Team Doctor) and Mufaro Chiturumani (Analyst).

Zimbabwe will face Sri Lanka in three ODI matches scheduled between January 6-11 next year. The two sides will also meet in as many T20I fixtures pencilled between January 14 -18.

All the matches will be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Cricket has with immediate effect suspended two Zimbabwe international players from all cricket activities, pending a hearing, for allegedly breaching anti-doping rules.

The concerned players are Wessly Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta.

The duo is reportedly to have tested positive for a banned recreational drug in an out-of-competition case recorded during a recent in-house doping test.
