NEW: Chibuku Super Cup returns

Online Reporter

THE 2023 edition of the Chibuku Super Cup will be launched in Harare on Wednesday.

The tournament is expected to kick off next week.

Bulawayo Chiefs are the defending champions, after they beat Herentals 1-0 at Barbourfields last November.

Arthur “Diego” Musiyiwa scored the winner.

Newly-promoted sides, Green Fuel, Simba Bhora and Sheasham, will feature in this cup for the first time, although Simba Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya is not a stranger in this competition.

He won the Chibuku Super Cup with Ngezi Platinum Stars back in 2016, in a famous victory over rivals FC Platinum.

FC Platinum were the inaugural winners of the cup in 2014, before Harare City claimed it in 2015.

Harare City won their second title in 2017, Triangle United won it in 2018, and Highlanders claimed it in 2019.

Harare giants Dynamos and CAPS United are yet to win the Chibuku Super Cup since its inception in 2014.

DeMbare lost the 2015 final to Harare City.
