NEW: Chimanimani accident: Victims’ burial start

BURIAL of the victims who perished when the St Charles Lwanga High School bus crashed along Chimanimani-Chipinge Road on Thursday night started today.

 

A total 37 people have been confirmed dead after the accident.

 

The overloaded bus was carrying ZCC church members who were traveling to Masvingo for their Easter gathering at the Mbungo shrine.

 

Most of the victims will be buried around the Tilbury Estate area of Chimanimani after bodies were collected yesterday.

 

More bodies are expected to be buried tomorrow when the ZCC church leader Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi visits the bereaved as well as survivors admitted in hospital.

 

A church service, which was also attended by Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works Marian Chombo, was held in Mutare yesterday before the bereaved started collecting bodies.

 

ZCC Church elder Timothy Mapanzure confirmed that they have started conducting burial of victims.
