NEW: Chimanimani, Chipinge hospitals get ambulances

Online Reporter

FOUR mission hospitals in Chimanimani and Chipinge have received fully-equipped 4X4 Toyota Land Cruiser ambulances to serve the communities in those areas.

The ambulances were donated by the World Bank.

Posting on its official Twitter account, the Zimbabwe Idai Recovery Project (ZIRP) – an organisation set up by the World Bank and United Nations (UN) agencies to help Cyclone Idai victims – said the mission hospitals benefitted because they provide the first line of treatment.

“Today @UNOPS_Zimbabwe and @WHO_Zimbabwe with support from @WorldBank handed over 4×4 fully equipped ambulances to four mission hospitals in areas that were affected by Cyclone Idai in Chimanimani and Chipinge,” ZIRP posted.

“St. Peters, Mt Selinda, Mutambara and Rusitu Mission Hospitals who are the recipients of the ambulances will provide the first line of treatment to critical patients, hence saving lives.”

Nearly 660 000 people have received free basic health care services, while 29 600 households have restored access to water and sanitation facilities.
