A Masvingo regional court has issued a warrant of arrest for a Chiredzi magistrate who failed to appear in court for continuation of trial on Friday over charges of indecent assault against a male court interpreter.
Through his defense lawyer Munyaradzi Vengesai of Mugiya and Muvhami Law Chambers, Simbarashe Gundani pleaded not guilty to the charges when he first appeared for trial a fortnight ago.
He stated that the complaint, Kudzanai Pesanai (32) a court interpreter stationed at the Chiredzi magistrates court, was seeking to tarnish his image, after he had denied him a transfer.
The State represented by prosecutor, Mr Liberty Hove, said on 21 November 2021 , Gundani (30) a magistrate at Chiredzi Civil Court, lured Pesanai to sleep at his place of residence saying he was very tired and could not drive the complainant to his house.
While they were sleeping on the same bed, Gundani allegedly leaned on Pesanai’s chest and kissed him on the mouth.
Gundani allegedly then pulled off the bedcover, forcibly removed Pesanai’s boxer shot and sucked the complainant’s penis without his consent.
A report was made leading to the arrest of Gundani.
