Simba Bhora…    1

RONALD “Rooney” Chitiyo scored a scorcher that rescued a point for title-chasing Simba Bhora in a Northern Region Soccer League match played at a packed Rimuka Stadium on Friday.

Simba Bhora went into this match topping the log with 52 points, but ended the day on second position behind Herentals Under-20, who beat Karoi United 2-0.

The Shamva-based side are now on 53 points, one behind Herentals.

Golden Valley led at half time, thanks to a brilliant 12th-minute strike by Galvin Mupfutumare.

It looked like they would upstage their more-fancied opponents.

But Chitiyo had other ideas.

The former CAPS United star turned away from his marker, before bending the ball beyond the Golden Valley keeper.

The huge crowd at Rimuka is another endorsement of the Northern Region Soccer League as the most exciting football competition in the country.
