NEW: Chitungwiza drug dealer in court

A CHITUNGWIZA man recently appeared in court facing charges of peddling a drug called ecstasy (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) at Chikwanha Shopping Centre. 

34-year-old Moses Dumba, who resides at number 15731, Unit P, Seke, Chitungwiza, was remanded in custody to June 6, 2022 by magistrate Mrs Ruth Moyo. 

According to the State’s outline, on May 27, 2022 a tip was received at CID Drugs and Narcotics Northern Region Offices that the accused was dealing in dangerous drugs at Chikwanha Shopping Centre. 

On the same day, at about 2.30pm,  detectives proceeded to the shopping centre where they approached the accused person, who was seated in an abandoned vehicle. 

A body search was conducted and a sachet of suspected ecstasy was found. 

A test was carried out and the result was positive.

The recorded weight of the drugs was approximately 1,5 grammes with a street value of $7 000.
