THE Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe (BACFOZ), an organisation which works with communities in fighting crime, has urged the public to work hand-in-glove with police in fighting crime.

The call was made by BACFOZ chairperson Mr Pasi Goredema during a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a charge office at Chinamhora Police Station in Domboshava on Tuesday.

BACFOZ, in conjunction with the Chinamhora community, pooled resources for the construction of the offices.

Currently, the police station is made up of old wooden structures.

Mr Goredema, who is also the Chinamhora Crime Liaison Committee chairperson, said: “The ZRP is working with limited resources. There is need for communities to complement Government efforts by working with the police to suppress crime.”

In a speech read on his behalf by Commissioner Charles Nhete, ZRP Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga commended the good working relationship that exists between police and the Chinamhora community.

“On behalf of the ZRP, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chinamhora community for their efforts which are improving service delivery,” Commissioner-General Matanga said.
