NEW: Conference centre for Tugwi-Mukosi Dam

The Government is courting investors to build a multi-purpose conference centre and boost tourism at Tugwi-Mukosi Dam in southern Chivi, Masvingo.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Babra Rwodzi said the conference centre will attract visitors to Zimbabwe’s largest interior dam.

Tugwi-Mukosi Dam has a capacity of 1,8 billion cubic metres and the dam has the potential to boost tourism.

Besides recreational boating and game viewing in the game park earmarked for the dam’s buffer zone, the picturesque topography around the water body is ideal for building hotels and establishing casinos.

“We are looking for investors willing to build a state-of-the-art conference centre at Tugwi-Mukosi so that we promote tourism at the dam in rural Chivi, which is the biggest inland dam in Zimbabwe,” said Minister Rwodzi.

She said high profile conferences can be held at the new conference centre helping to put Tugwi-Mukosi on the tourism map.

“If there are investors out there who are keen to build a conference centre at Tugwi-Mukosi let them come and talk to us, we will listen to them,” said the Minister.

Tugwi-Mukosi has many anchor projects that were identified as low-hanging fruits that could be quickly exploited to engender socio-economic transformation.
