THE countrywide fourth round polio vaccination campaign targeting children under five years will run from October 10-13, it has been learnt.

“The campaign is set for 10-13 October 2023 for children below the age of five years, with a finger-mark as an indication that a child is vaccinated with OPV (oral poliovirus vaccines),” Chitungwiza Municipality’s Health Department said in a statement on Thursday.

“The vaccination teams will be moving from house to house, schools, creches and at shopping centres and markets vaccinating all eligible children.”

Zimbabwe has been polio-free since 1989, but it is now at high risk of infection from the polio virus, which has already been reported in neighbouring high-risk countries like Malawi and Mozambique.
