MASHONALAND central football leadership believes they need to do things according to the book if the province is to develop the game.

The province has already provided Simba Bhora (2024 PSL champions) and Agama into the top flight league, and there is belief more can be done to help talented players realise their potential.

Stakeholders from the province converged in Bindura recently to map a way forward to take the game to the next level.

The meeting also came at a time there are upcoming ZIFA Members Elections.

In a publication released by ZIFA on November 20, for Mashonaland Central Province, Edward Mutukwa was the only sole candidate eligible for the post of chairperson, meaning an automatic qualification.

Mutukwa said it is the province’s responsibility to adhere to professionalism through correct and fair governance.

“We will ensure transparency in player registration, eliminating secret deals that undermine the integrity of our league. We will ensure all clubs are FIFA Connect compliant, and each club will receive a laptop for use,” said Mutukwa.

‘’And have zero tolerance for corruption, we will work with authorities to ensure those involved face the full force of the law.”

For the vice chairpersons, the duo of Tsungai Makumbe and Warren Date will be vying for the post, while Thokozani Moyo, Edmore Tawasika, Jerrymike Gumbo will contest for the board member positions.

“Rules will be applied fairly and consistently, without favouritism or bias. We will clearly outline affiliation fees, ensuring clubs know what to expect.

“Financial statements will be made public, ensuring accountability and transparency.”

Mutukwa said they have already engaged potential sponsors to support clubs.

“We are already in talks with potential sponsors, and we will secure the best deals for our league. We will ensure prize money and monthly awards are attractive and motivation for our teams and also try increase visibility through engaging media.

“We will engage with councils to upgrade our grounds, providing better facilities for our teams and fans and make sure that we tame violence and hooliganism. It has no place in our game,” said Mutukwa.
