GOSHAWKS head coach Brendan Dawson has rung the changes to his starting line-up for this weekend’s Currie Cup Division One tie against Boland Kavaliers.
Having had an extra week to prepare after receiving a bye during the last round of fixtures, the Goshawks return to action when they host Kavaliers in Cape Town on Saturday.
Dawson also received a shot in the arm as he welcomed five more additions to his ever-growing squad on Wednesday.
This follows the arrival of Brian Mutanga, Nyasha Tarusenga, Sean Beavor and the France-based duo of Shayne Makombe and George Saungweme.
Of the five, only Beavor and Tarusenga have been roped into the match-day squad, with the two coming in as replacements alongside the likes of Mathew Mandioma, Doug Juszczyk, Gabriel Sipapate, Hilton Mudariki, Takudzwa Musingwini and Russell Dinha for Saturday’s game.
Dawson has also rung the changes to his starting 15, with Mandioma, Kudakwashe Nyakufaringwa, Andrew Evans, Biselele Tshamala, Mudariki, Riaan O’Neill, Dinha and Connor Kennedy all making way for Declan Ralphs, Johan Du Preez, Godwin Mangenje, Tonderai Chawambutsa, Kelvin Kanenungo, Kyle Galloway, Boyd Rouse, Ablant Tavonga and Brendon Marume.
Mandioma is set to make way for Ralphs at the hooker position, and will have to find a spot on the bench for the game.
Skipper Hilton Mudariki also makes his way to the bench and will be replaced by Galloway at scrumhalf, while the pairings of Du Preez and Mangenje (right and left lock), Chawambutsa and Kanenungo (left and right flank) are among the other changes.
The Goshawks gaffer has also decided to give debuts to the Young Sables duo of Tavonga and Marume, who come in at the right-wing and full-back positions and replace Dinha and Kennedy.
Zimbabwe have one win from three matches, with their victory coming in their last outing against the Kenya Simbas.
The Goshawks emerged 22-21 victors in that game.
