New deal for Mourinho

LONDON. – Chelsea are ready to tie Jose Mourinho down to a new contract after speculation linking him with the Barcelona job.

The Portuguese boss returned to the club for a second stint in June 2013, penning a four-year deal in the process, and has led his side to the top of the Premier League table this season.

Mourinho, who had successful spells in charge of Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, tied up big-money moves for the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa during the summer transfer window, and is determined to land Chelsea’s first league title since 2010. The tactician has been linked in recent times with taking over from Luis Enrique at the Nou Camp, and Chelsea are keen to secure Mourinho’s services by offering him a new deal in January.

And the 50-year-old has previously admitted that he would jump at the chance to stay at Stamford Bridge if given the chance, saying: “I’m not here thinking about my next move because I don’t want to have a next move.

“I will have a next move if and when Chelsea decides it’s time for that. I’m here to stay.

“I belong to Chelsea, Chelsea belong to me.” – The Daily Express.
