NEW: DREAMS initiative supports more than 6 000 girls

A LOCAL non-governmental organisation, Family Aids Caring Trust (FACT) with support from its partners, is funding 6 523 vulnerable young women to complete their education under the ‘DREAMS’ initiative. 

DREAMS is an acronym for Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored and Safe. 

In a statement FACT said educating the girl child empowers society. 

“The DREAMS project being implemented by Family AIDS Caring Trust – FACT Zimbabwe with support from the US. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)/USAID Zimbabwe in Makoni, Mutare and Chipinge districts of Manicaland has managed to enrol, retain and see the progression in school of 6 523 vulnerable Adolescent Girls and Young Women,” reads part of the statement.
