THE high level of mortality recorded nationwide is expected to be reduced significantly in Rusape District thanks to the recent provision of neo-natal, anti-natal and post-natal equipment manned by qualified personnel at Greysteam Clinic. Residents in Rusape who all along depended on one clinic now have their primary health care burden eased following the official opening of Greysteam Clinic recently. Since opening its doors to the public almost two months ago and operating 24 hours round the clock, Greysteam Clinic has earned the respect of many in the fast growing town of Rusape and their recent provision of neo-natal, anti-natal and post-natal equipment manned by qualified personnel is expected to go a long way in reducing deaths during birth delivery process.
In a telephone interview this week, founder and director of Greysteam Clinic, Ms Gladys Svosve, confirmed that the clinic was now offering neo-natal, anti-natal and post-natal services.
Ms Svosve added that they had also secured the services of qualified personnel to give male circumcision services as well as mental health care.
“We are now offering neo-natal, anti-natal and post-natal services to the public. Apart from that we are also offering male circumcision services as well as mental health care.
“It is imperative to note that in providing all these services, Greysteam Clinic has secured the services of qualified personnel in order to give top quality health care to the community of Rusape. We are of the opinion that Rusape should not be left behind when it comes to provision of world class health care services hence we are working flat out to ensure that we have all the other health care services that were once found in big cities only.
“This is the small part we are playing in helping Rusape develop. The good thing is that we have been received well and companies as well as schools are partnering us. Medical Aid societies are also partnering us hence the need to ensure that we also do our part in providing all the services that clients need.
“We are a people-centred institution and that is why our charges are consumer friendly. We are indeed grateful to the community of Rusape as well as fellow businesspersons in the town for their continuous support,” she said.
With relatively consumer friendly consultation charges of $4 for kids, $8 for adults and $10 to see the doctor, Greysteam has been overwhelmingly received in Rusape.
District Medical Officer for Rusape, Dr Trevor Mwaramba welcomed private players in relieving the primary health care burden.
“Makoni as a district has a population of about 311 783 with 58 clinics, while Rusape town has a population of 31 000 and only one clinic hence the opening of this clinic is a welcome development given that the figures show that the public health system is overwhelmed.
“As Government, we welcome private players in relieving the primary health care burden,” said Dr Mwaramba in his speech during the official opening of the clinic early July when he was standing in for Manicaland Provincial Medical Director, Dr Patron Mafaune at the occasion.
