NEW: Female sungura musician Mainato to release fifth album

LOVENNESS Mainato — one of the few women sungura singers — is set to release her fifth album titled “Mutsimba”.

The six-track album is made up of songs such as “Fambai Neni”, “Responsibility”, “Naishe Zvinoita”, “Ndirwirei” and “Kari Kumafaro”.

The Chitungwiza-based artiste, who was adjudged to be the best female sungura artiste at the 2018 National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), said most songs on the new album encourage people to work hard.

“‘Mutsimba’ means taking things by force.

“In life, one has to be aggressive and take certain things by force. One will not always get the things they want on a silver platter,” he said.

Mainato’s song “Toita Basa”, which was released in 2018 and is off the “Vazivisei” album, is one of the musician’s better-known songs.

Her other song “Usaibope Nekumashure” was also widely played on national radio stations.

Apart from being a musician, the single mother of four is a social worker and president of the Albino Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe.
