FIVE families in Westlea suburb of Mutare were left counting huge losses after a house they were staying in was razed by fire early yesterday morning.

Ms Maredza told reporters that she lost everything in the blaze and pleaded for any kind of help from the public.

She said the fire started in one of the rooms that was rented by two men who had gone to work and that she only realised that the house was on fire when she woke up.

All the families lost their property.

“Yesterday morning, I got up around 8am and saw smoke coming out of the two men’s room. I realised that there was a fire and it was spreading through the ceiling to other rooms. I shouted for help from neighbours. We called the Fire Brigade, but they were not helpful. They came too late, after the neighbours had already extinguished the fire,” she said.

All the families lost everything except the clothes they were wearing.
