Shaik Zeenat Khatoon Rafiq was arrested after the drugs were found stuffed in the lining of her travelling bag.

“The suspect, who intended to board an Ethiopian Airline to Addis Ababa en-route to India, was found with 9,2kgs of heroine stuffed in the lining of her travelling bag at the airport scanning point,” reads an October 3 report from police.

In a related case, Beitbridge detectives from CID and Narcotics arrested a cross-border transporter, Obvious Moyo (34), for unlawful possession of 50 bottles of Benylin cough syrup, which were hidden underneath luggage in the vehicle.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect is being used by drug peddlers to transport contraband from South Africa into the country,” police said.
