Sunday Mail Reporter

Sipho Mazibuko, the founder of Miss Strides, an initiative that empowers and uplifts rural girls through pageantry, wants to spread her initiative into the region.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, Mazibuko, who owns the Ms Rural Africa trademark, said she is currently engaging various partners with a view of bringing to life the inaugural Miss Rural Africa pageant this year.

“I am currently in talks with various stakeholders from a number of countries, such as Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia, just to mention a few, to make sure that this inaugural event is a success,” she said.

“But, of course, charity begins at home, and my goal is that the inaugural Miss Rural Africa pageant is hosted here in Zimbabwe.”

The Bulawayo-based former model said she will soon engage with the relevant Government ministries to make sure everything is in line.
