NEW: Four opposition parties endorse President Mnangagwa

FOUR political party leaders, who participated in the 2018 elections and later joined the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), have endorsed the ruling party’s candidate, President Mnangagwa, and pledged to canvass for support for ZANU PF ahead of the August 2023 harmonised elections.

Dr Francis Danha of 1980 Freedom Movement, Mr Welcome Shumba of Africa First Movement, Ms Melbah Dzapasi of Divine Alliance for Vitalisation of Inspired Development Party and Mr Divine Hove of the Nationalists Alliance Party have since written to President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF declaring their support.

In a statement, ZANU PF’s presidential representative in POLAD, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, said the four leaders were given audience by President Mnangagwa on July 24.

The four political leaders pledged to support and campaign for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF throughout all provinces using their own resources.

Others members of POLAD – Trust Chikohora of Zimbabwe Coalition for Peace and Development (ZCPD), Lovemore Madhuku of the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) and Wilson Harry Peter of the Democratic Opposition Party (DOP) –  will, however, be contesting the August 23 elections.
