Government has noted with concern that funerals have become one of the major contributing factors to the increasing number of positive Covid-19 cases and deaths.

Presenting the Post Cabinet Briefing on Tuesday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said funerals have become super-spreaders of the coronavirus.

“Funerals have become major spreaders within the provinces, the environmental health workers and police are upping their game in the enforcement of the mandatory numbers.

“While village health workers are playing their part in educating villagers, we implore traditional leaders to be more visible and forceful in the enforcement of the lockdown regulations,” she said

The country recorded a total of 1 949 and 28 deaths as of July 06, 2021. To date 807 633 people have received their first dose while 574 834 have received the second jab.
