NEW: Robbers make-off with 21K in Masvingo

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is investigating a robbery case in which five unknown assailants armed with machetes last week attacked a Masvingo family and stole US$21 000 cash.

In a statement on Twitter Wednesday morning, the police said the suspects broke into the house at around 2 am before escaping with the cash and various other valuables.

“The ZRP is investigating a robbery case which occurred at Runyararo South West, Masvingo on July 3 2021 at around 0200 hours where a family was attacked by five unknown suspects armed with machetes,” reads the statement.

“The assailants severely assaulted the owner of the house and stole USD 21 000 cash and four Samsung cell phones. Meanwhile, Police reiterates that members of the public must not keep large sums of money in homes.”
