NEW: Gardner steals from employer

POLICE in Mutare have a launched a manhunt for a gardener, Lloyd Chitima, who stole a substantial amount of money from his employer in Greenside suburb last week.

The money reportedly runs into thousands of dollars and Chitima of Mafuke Village in Mutare District, was caught on the CCTV camera entering and exiting the cottage where the money was stolen.

In the footage, he was captured holding wades of United States of America dollars and he has since disappeared.

Police confirmed the manhunt.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said: “We are appealing for information leading to the arrest of Lloyd Chitima who was employed as a gardener in Greenside where he broke into the cottage and stole money.

“He disappeared soon after committing the crime and never reported for duty. Anyone with information on Chitima’s whereabouts should contact their nearest police station.”
