FORMER Dynamos star midfielder Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda has bounced back at DeMbare as the new team manager.
Sibanda (48) played for DeMbare in 1998 and 1999 and was also part of Zimbabwe’s history-making squad that qualified for the 2004 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
“Dynamos Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of our former midfielder Ronald ‘Gidiza’ Sibanda as the Glamour Boys’ new team manager for the 2025 season,” Dynamos said in a statement.
Dynamos are convinced Sibanda’s “wealth of experience” will be valuable.
Sibanda previously held a similar role with Bulawayo City.
“Gidiza has over 50 international caps with the Warriors and was part of Zimbabwe’s history-making squad that qualified for the 2004 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations finals,” reads the statement.
“He is regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s best midfielders of all time and commands a lot of respect for the service he gave to the local game.
“Previously, Gidiza held a similar role at former topflight side Bulawayo City and we believe he will be a valuable asset in the Glamour Boys’ set-up.”
The Harare giants have also announced the appointment of former Highlanders and CAPS United coach Mark Mathe as Lloyd Chigowe’s assistant.
“It is the club’s ambition to see the Glamour Boys challenge for every title we compete for. We have faith that Mathe’s experience will help us achieve our goals,” adds the statement.
“The 49-year-old has valuable expertise having previously coached Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs, Highlanders, Harare City, CAPS United and Golden Eagles.
“Mathe recently left Mozambican side UD Songo FC, where he was serving in a similar capacity. The club would like to congratulate both Gidiza and Mathe on their appointments and wish them best of luck in their new roles.”
