NEW: Good Samaritan loses life

IT was a case of a good deed gone bad for Malvern Paul (44), who was murdered while trying to restrain Malvern Batsirai (34) from assaulting his girlfriend.

Malvern Paul was attacked with bricks and empty beer bottles by seven men at Gail Court, at the intersection of Eighth Street and Samora Machel Avenue, on November 5.

Batsirai was arrested, while the other six suspects are on the run.

“Police in Harare are investigating a case of murder in which Malvern Paul (44) died after being attacked with bricks and empty beer bottles by Malvern Batsirai (34) and six other suspects at Gail Court, corner Eighth Street and Samora Machel Avenue, on November 5, 2023,” police said in a statement.

“The victim had tried to restrain Malvern Batsirai from assaulting his girlfriend. Police have since arrested Malvern Batsitrai in connection with the case.

“Six suspects, who include Gaza Cartel, Dhadza and Tsomutsomu, are on the run.”
