Government has announced the pre-planting producer prices for the 2021/22 summer cropping season as part of the Agriculture Recovery Plan, which is meant to boost agriculture productivity and ensure food self-sufficiency.
Grain Marketing Board (GMB) chief executive, Mr Rockie Mutenha, confirmed the new pre-planting prices.
The pre-planting producer price for maize is $58 553,25 per tonne, while traditional grains will be pegged at $70 263,90 per tonne.
The soya beans pre-planting producer price is $125 530,17 per tonne, and sunflower will be pegged at $150 636,20 per tonne.
“GMB depots will be open during the festive season except for public holidays only,” said Mr Mutenha.
Last season, the pre-planting producer price for maize was $32 000 per tonne, while traditional grains were pegged at $38 000 per tonne.
Soya beans was pegged at $48 000 per tonne.
