THE Government has secured a US$193 million loan facility from local and South African banks to construct 35 new hospitals and clinics.

Under the facility, five 60-bed district hospitals will be constructed across the country, as well as 30 new 20-bed health centres.

In a post on microblogging site Twitter on Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development said the loan was secured from Standard Bank (South Africa), ABSA and Standard Bank Limited Zimbabwe.

“The Zimbabwe Public Debt Management Office successfully negotiated a US$193,3 million sovereign loan facility from Standard Bank (South Africa), ABSA and Standard Bank Limited Zimbabwe,” it said.

“Minister Mthuli Ncube highlighted that the project buttresses Government’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 3, which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages, which is critical for sustainable development.”
