NEW: Govt supporting local fertiliser production

GOVERNMENT has moved to support local fertiliser production in response to disruptions in the global supply chains that have been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.

In the 2022 Mid-term Budget and Economic Review last week, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said support would be provided through prioritisation of access to foreign currency and working capital requirements to fertiliser companies.

“In response to the global supply chain disruptions affecting availability and prices of fertiliser on the domestic market, Government is supporting local production of fertiliser through prioritising access to foreign currency and working capital requirements for local fertiliser manufacturers,” he said.
