NEW: GreenFuel bring Premiership football to Chipinge

GREENFUEL have made history after becoming the first ever team based in Chipinge District to earn the coveted promotion into the Premier Soccer League after clinching the Eastern Region Division One title with three rounds of league matches to spare.

 

Not until Sunday had a team based in Chipinge secured a place in the country’s top-flight league and the best clubs in the district have gone is the Eastern Region Division One League.

 

The Lloyd ‘Samaita’ Mutasa-coached Greenfuel joined Central Region’s Shesham as next season’s PSL debutantes, while Hwange look set to make a sensational return to Premiership football as they currently lead the log standings in the Southern Region league.

 

In the Northern Region, four rounds of league matches remain, with Simba Stars leading the pack, while Herentals Under-19 still have a mathematical chance to dislodge the log leaders.

 

Mutasa said: “It was a tough journey, but at the end of the day we are happy that we have managed to achieve the targets we had set for ourselves. We learnt our lessons along the way and we are excited we managed to win the title.”
