CONSTRUCTION of the Mutare Provincial Registry Building is set to commence next week, the Manica Post can reveal.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction this morning, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Deputy Minister, Honourable Ruth Mavhungu-Maboyi said the investment of infrastructure development facilitates the ease of doing business, while at the same time decentralising civil registry services.

She said her ministry is committed to building more registry offices across the country.

“The initiative will go a long way in addressing the issue of limited office accommodation and ensure that vital civil registration records are preserved in a secure environment,” she said.

Also speaking on behalf of Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Minister Nokuthula Matsikenyere, director for economic affairs and investment analysis Mr Munyaradzi Rubaya welcomed the development, saying the old makeshift and temporary civil registry offices were in a deplorable state.

“It is not a coincidence that the first state-of-the-art provincial offices for the Civil Registry are to be erected in Manicaland. We also would like to thank President Mnangagwa for Vision 2030 which has made it possible for our infrastructure to be developed,” she said.
