THE body-building and fitness domain in Harare is set for another boost following the opening of new state-of-the-art gyms in the city.
Body Tech Health Studio opened its doors in Harare last month while Total Fitness Gym will be opened on Monday next week.
Total Fitness is located at the New Chinese Mall near the National Sports Stadium and is coming on board as the Harare Bodybuilding and Fitness Association has embarked on taking stock of all gyms around Harare to standardise their operations.

Ziad Kassam, the director at Total Fitness, said the gym will complement efforts being made to take fitness to higher levels and demystifying the idea that modern gyms were the preserve of the elite only.

“I believe people should not visit the gym as some kind of a luxury but should make it a necessity hence we have come up with structures that will accommodate all classes of the society without looking at their backgrounds.

“Promoting fitness and promoting a healthy living is our main aim, so we have structured  our facilities in such a way that we will have different sections in the gym that suit everyone’s training schedule,” said Kassam.

Kassam said one of the gym’s initiatives was to produce athletes who can compete at premier body building competitions like the recently held Mr and Ms Zimbabwe.

“It is through such positive initiatives that the sport can only grow in leaps and bounds while at the same time giving opportunities to those fitness fanatics who may not necessarily want to go all the way and compete,” said Kassam.

While Total Fitness will be opened on Monday, the grand opening is set for next month for the gym that is equipped with tradesmills, shoulder pulleys, chest expanders, leg press and spin bikes.
